History

Founded in 1946 … and focused on the future ever since.

Plumb Supply Company was founded in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1946 with plumbing as our first area of expertise. HVAC products were added to the company in 1956, and Cabinet & Countertop products in 2018. Since then, Plumb Supply has remained focused on what we do best: plumbing, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and pipe, valves and fittings, and now Cabinets & Countertops.

It may sound simple, but it’s been anything but. All of our focus areas have evolved dramatically since our founding. Even something as seemingly ordinary as pipe comes in many different materials and sizes today.  Add in the steady improvement in efficiency, and the evolution of building techniques, materials and configurations, and there’s never a dull moment and always something to learn.

Plumb Supply Company opened our second branch location in Mason City, Iowa in 1949. Today we’re in 32 locations in Iowa and Missouri. In the midst of all the growth and change, we’ve remained proudly independent, family owned and Midwest focused. We also bring time-tested values like honesty, integrity and trust to our customers and communities. Our survival and growth as a business since 1946 testifies to our relentless focus on ethical business practices, building strong customer relationships, and offering unsurpassed product quality, service and value.
